A brief introduction to quaternion matrices and linear algebra and on bounded groups of quaternion matrices
The division algebra of real quaternions, as the only noncommutative normed division real algebra up to isomorphism of normed algebras, is of great importance. In this note, first we present a brief introduction to quaternion matrices and quaternion linear algebra. This, among other things, will help us present the counterpart of a theorem of Herman Auerbach in the setting of quaternions. More ...
A Stabilization Criterion for Matrices
Given a simple linear system ẋ(t) = Ax(t) which is unstable in the sense that A has eigenvalues in the open left half of the complex plane, it is shown how the system can be dilated to a stable system of larger size. The cases of real matrices and complex matrices are considered separately.

A Criterion for Stability of Matrices
Ž . Let A be an n = n matrix and let s A be its spectrum. The stability Ž . Ž .4 modulus of A is s A s max Re l: l g s A , and A is said to be stable Ž . if s A 0. The stability of a matrix is related to the Routh]Hurwitz problem on the number of zeros of a polynomial that have negative real parts. Much research has been devoted to the latter. The first solution w x dates back to Sturm 21, p. 3...
A Criterion for Reducibility of Matrices
The problem of existence and characterization of non-trivial reducing subspaces for a given matrix is studied employing some basic tools of multilinear algebra. A criterion for reducibility of a single matrix is obtained which is also extended to the case of simultaneous reduction of two or more matrices.
